Well I’m averaging a blog a month these days! I’ve been so blessed to be so busy within such a short time here on Oahu! One of my favorite sessions recently is the Todd family! They were reunited after a log deployment and I had the honor of doing their ‘reunited’ family photoshoot! Their daughter was the perfect model and I had a great time working with them!
This Monday I got to do one of the most special sessions I do, a birth story. Everett Flores is here, he’s healthy, he’s happy, he’s adorable, he’s 8lbs, and his mom and dad are so in love already. His mom is an actual wonder woman! She labored for quite some time at home and was almost half way ready to push by the time she got to Scripps Hospital in Encinitas, CA. When I arrived she was feeling the pain, but after a while things calmed down. His dad was so helpful and encouraging to mom. Not long after I arrived it was time to meet Everett! I got to visit him the next day and get to photograph him before he hit his 24-hour mark. This kid is already so handsome and I’m honored to be his first photographer!
Probably one of the best parts of being of portrait sessions is getting to know my clients! The Harting family visited Ocean Beach in San Diego, CA and decided what a better way to enjoy their visit by getting their portraits done. Its also a great way to check off Holiday Card photos off the list too! ;) They were so open to all my crazy ideas (except the youngest lady, she want’ super excited about the cold water). When she saw the surfers waiting for their next set she said, “Duckies!” Needless to say I died laughing!
The military life moves quickly; when you find the love of your life and they are in the service romance sometimes needs to take a backseat. Kaitlynn and Mike have been married for two years, have two handsome sons together and to celebrate their second anniversary wanted some ‘real’ wedding photos! I met Kaitlynn when Mike returned from a deployment earlier this year, she was still pregnant with their second son and he made it home just in time because two days later she went into labor! I was honored to help celebrate their love, we went to Cabrillo National Monument in Point Loma and Kaitlynn’s mom was on hand to help with her two of her grandchildren. Happy (now belated) Anniversary!
Nothing makes my day like seeing my clients again, especially when they have a new family member to introduce to the world! A few weeks back I got to meet the Tober’s newest family member, Lincoln, for his newborn shoot in San Diego, CA. You probably remember his handsome older brother Theo, both of these boys are going to be serious heart breakers! Lincoln’s newborn photos are not traditional, we did a lifestyle shoot to show how life goes with a newborn, older brother, and preparing for a cross country move! Lifestyle shoots are and excellent option if your looking for something unique to your family (they’re also cheaper than a traditional newborn shoot).
I’m so lucky to have met Clare, Mike, Theo and Lincoln; the navy life brings wonderful people into your world that you would have never met otherwise and I’m honored to capture some of their memories while they were stationed here. <3 Until we meet again!
The Kelly Family joined me in Pacific Beach a couple of weeks ago for their San Diego, CA family session before they leave California for the East coast! Such a great family and I'm sad to see them leave our area, but thrilled I got to photograph them one last time!
Capt. Jason Newsom returned home to his family after 7 months overseas at Camp Pendleton earlier this month! I had the pleasure of meeting his wonderful wife Pricilla and their handsome son, I had a great time talking and getting to know about them while waiting for Marines to arrive. Their son even has a knack for photography and was very into learning how the camera worked! As a military wife myself I can relate to the huge array of emotions that come with homecomings! The Marine Corps Community Services of Camp Pendleton, MCCSCP, provided a bouncy house and inflated obstacle course to keep all the kiddos occupied while they waited; needless to say it those were a huge hit! I know the Newsom’s are happy to be back together and I was honored to document this time in their lives for them!
I LOVE when I get to meet kiddos after I photography their 'before' shots during a maternity shoot. I photographed the Cotnor family last summer for their maternity shoot and recently we returned to Torrey Pines State Beach in San Diego, CA to capture, their daughter, Mia's 6 month photos. The beach has had some changes due to El Nino and there were tons of rocks washed ashore, which made for a totally different vibe than our first visit there. I love this family and their daughter is such a trooper putting up with me. ;)
